A summary of all that has happened.....
Time flies I guess.... It's been ages since I last updated this blog.... Anyway, I'll just summarise what has happened during the past 2 months, April and May, after the secondary schools SYF.
HS attained a bronze. They sounded quite fine that fateful day, no mistakes, basically they were trying to play really safe. Much expression was to be desired and their articulations were somehow blurred. Balance wise, was ok except certain portions of FOTG where it was not projected clearly. In the end, the judges must have faulted them on their musicality and intonation I guess. Still a job well done HS Symphonic band!
At first, it was difficult intergrating into my CT and bonding together with them, but after the recent leadership training camp which ended on Wednesday (25/5/05), I now find it easier to do so. Our CT is now more united. I volunteered to be class monitor earlier on in fact, and it turned out to be fine for me. Doing so is being noticed and accounted for. In life, its about taking the initative. My sec 4 class was quite unlike this current class of mine. Although there was some form of class spirit, however it did not accomodate everybody. More importantly, the class was hostile in a sense that they did not support each other. When someone wanted to do something, he gets booed and rejected and that's all because of one idiot! O5A4B on the other hand, is a great class, everyone present at the camp has made a difference in my life during those 2 short but fruitful days. Moreover, I'm glad my CT acknowledged me for my leadership capabilities during the camp, THANKS people!
NYJC band's SYF was next up after HS band's. It was then that I told myself that NY band should be my priority and not HS. So ever since that fateful day, I've never gone back to HS for very good reasons. We practised everyday, 5 days a week for 3 weeks straight and our band really improved tremendously under the guidance of Mr Desmond Ng, alumni member. Credit should also go to our band director for his conducting. In the end, we came out with a SILVER. However, our case was quite exceptional because we were considered for a GOLD but unfortunately, it was not to be. CJC was the better band and they snatched the GOLD from under our noses. Their technical ability was better, the judges claimed. Is that so?
Aside from the 2 day leadership training camp in May, we had our first common test straight after SYF. Until now, I haven't received all my common test results yet, but so far its not been smooth sailing for me. The transition from sec sch to JC still seems to be taking its toll on some people.
I hope to talk more about the leadership training camp in my next entry....
