Is leadership the most important aspect that a good leader must have?
There are many examples of good leaders in our world today and in the past. These leaders are there for a reason; to lead people in the right direction. In order to lead people in the correct direction, a leader must first and foremost be good; meaning that they must set the right examples for the people around them to follow. Moreover, they must be able to lead well and display the essential qualities during times of adversity and crisis. Such qualities are not what any man on the street possess. They come with proper training and years of proper upbringing on the part of the parents. However, the contention here is if leadership skills are the most crucial quality that a good leader must possess. I would therefore agree with the above statement that such a quality is of utmost importance over and above any other quality.
Leadership skills are not easy to acquire. Some people are born with it whereas some just do not possess such an important quality. This means that a leader must be able to manage different situations and difficult people. At the same time, they have to ensure that everything is well organised and that the team can move on without a hitch. That is leadership. A leader would be a failure without this skill. If a leader lacks this essential quality, in times of adversity or when a plan fails, the entire organization would collapse, amounting to great losses. This is especially evident for large multinational companies or even for a government. With leadership skills playing an important role in an organization, we therefore simply have to admit that leadership is indeed the most essential quality of a leader.
Over and above this, there are other qualities that must come hand in hand with leadership skills. Integrity is also a very important quality of a good leader. What exactly is integrity? It just means that one is honest and firm in his moral principles. Without integrity, it is very likely that one would succumb to dishonest and unethical ways in order to achieve one's goal, losing the respect of many along the way. This could be detrimental to a leader's organization and could jeopardize the future dealings of the organization. Having integrity would thus allow a leader to deal with others in an unjust and upright manner. That together with leadership skills would make an all rounded leader with the ability to handle various situations properly.
There are of course other qualities of a good leaer, however, I feel that leadership skills and integrity are the two most important qualities that a good leader must have. However, between both these qualities, leadership takes precedence. It is the 'must have' quality of all good leaders. Without it, the organzation, team or even the family would crumble. Even if a leader has integrity and works in an unjust way, without the proper leadership skills, there would be massive unhappiness and could therefore lead to the fall of the organization.
Hope you enjoyed this unique entry of mine! I hope you have gained some insights into the true meaning of being a good leader! Haha....

(PS: If you notice, I did not include any examples in this entry. This is because I do not want to get any party involved for fear of attracting unnecessary attention. Haha...)
