HS SYF

Well, well. Looks like it was a disappointing outing for the HS band on Thursday, 14th April. In the end, they ended up attaining a bronze when they were under the impression that they would achieve a silver minimally. Really nothing much I can say here except that they've already done their best. I did mention before that, whatever the result, I'll always be behind them. So I'm sticking to what I've said and will still be proud to say that I was once a member of HS symphonic band. No regrets....

Will talk more about SYF in my next entry. Stay tuned for more............

HS Arts Fiesta (continued......)

The night programme turned out quite fine actually. First and foremost, was the prize presentation for the top student and the outstanding students in the 'O' levels. Was good to shake hands with Prof Ho, who was the GOH that night. It's actually quite an honour in a sense because he is such a distinguished person in the field of music. Not many people can be like him. Anyway, the guitar and guzhen did quite well for the first half.

Met Zhao Han during the interval and chatted with him before Caleb joined in later. Glad Zhao Han made a new friend! So the second half started off well with the guitar before the band took centre stage for the final item. Just like the afternoon show, the finale had a major impact on the audience. It literally rocked the NYP auditorium. Good job guys! However like I said again, the band must be careful of their balance, intonation and musicality. Noticed again that many of the chords were not in tune. That could be very costly during SYF. The judges will be all out to get bands that do not play their chords in tune. Balance, another important aspect is still not achieved yet I noticed. When the melody is supposed to be outstanding, it isn't. Instead it seems like the bass is louder.....

Ok enough of that. I'm sure the band knows what to do and I'm very sure they'll give it their best for SYF. We shall see next Thursday, 14th April. Good luck guys! Just worried for HS band.....

HS Arts Fiesta

Today was the big day for the HS cultural groups. Finally, after hours of gruelling rehersals in HS and at NYP, this was the day everyone was waiting for. Anyway, decided to go to NYJC in the morning first before going to NYP straight after school at about 12pm. The only main highlight that morning was the CT period where we got a chance to introduce ourselves. Mrs Tan was 05A4B's (my CT again!) our 'Form teacher', a GP teacher. It was good to get to know new people though, however, it would be very difficult to have that 05A4B class spirit like we had during the first 3 months.

The HS band had just finished their morning rehersal when I arrived at about 2pm. Found out later that they had included some actions into the finale piece, Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. The band I felt, did not perform up to expectations for the afternoon show which was basically meant for the HS students. To be honest, the band made quite a lot of errors during the afternoon show. Noticed that the chords for FOTG was getting out of tune as the song went on. We played 3 peices, Alvamar Overture, FOTG and Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Having said that, I'm very convinced that the HS band will play much much better for SYF. Maybe it's just the nerves that are getting the better of them...... I don't know.....

Will continue talking about the HS Arts Fiesta (night programme) soon........ Stay tuned for more.....

Miss 05A4B

Well, haven't updated this for a very very long time. To be exact, 33 days....... Anyway, this one month has been a wonderful experience for me. First was the release of the 'O' level results. Did relatively well, although I felt I could have done slightly better. Wanted a single digit for my L1R5, but did not get it. Instead missed the mark by one point.... Haha, unlucky. At least I would be getting the outstanding award from HS tomorrow at the HS annual Arts Fiesta... Good for me....

Speaking of which, went to NYP after school today. Right now, we only have a tentative time-table, which according to my JC, will last until Monday, 4th April. Must say that, I miss the 05A4B spirit now that we are in different CTs. But life's unfair, all good things must come to an end. Thanks a lot guys for all the fun during these first 3 months! Really appreciate it!

Especially to those who have been keeping the 05A4B spirit alive till this day. Jeremy, Zhao Han, David, Joshua, Hui Min, Wan Ting, Olivia, Wei Jun, Amanda, Jamie etc. You people have made my experience during the first 3 months an enjoyable and fun-filled one!!

Anyway, the rehersal at NYP went on quite smoothly today except for some minor hickups and adjustments. The band didn't sound that fantastic though. Don't know what exactly the problem is but I suspect it must be the curtains behind. Curtains absorb the sound, so some sound does not get projected out as expected. Never mind, small problem this one....

It was good to finally be able to talk to Zhao Han again after a while. He accompanied me to NYP this afternoon which I felt was good of him to do. Thanks buddy.... Appreciate you sacrificing your time and money! Will meet him again tomorrow, yea......
